FAQ'S

Q: Who will benefit from therapy?

A:  Attending therapy can have many benefits including improved self-esteem and gaining communication skills.  I find those who benefit most from therapy, are individuals who are open and honest about their presenting concerns and willing to partake in a journey of self-reflection and accountability.

Q: How much will my insurance cover for sessions?

A:  Coverage of services will vary from company to company.  Most insurance companies cover mental health counseling services with a co-pay or co-insurance paid by the customer.  Some insurance plans require a deductible to be met and paid before coverage begins.  Contact your insurance company for coverage details.

Q: Do you accept my insurance?

A: To see a list of insurance companies I will bill on your behalf, please see the insurance billing page.  If I am not an in-network provider with your insurance company, you will need to pay the full rate.  A superbill can be generated for you to submit for possible out of network reimbursement.  Check your plan for details.

Q: How many sessions do I need?

A: It is difficult to pre-determine the amount of sessions needed.  It is common for people who have had 12 or more sessions to report an improvement in their life.  Therapy is a service provided at will to you, at any time you wish to discontinue, it is your right to do so.  Be prepared to come for at least 8-20 sessions.
Q: Can you bill my insurance for couples therapy?
A:  I will only bill your insurance if your plan allows for CPT code 90847.  Please contact your insurance for details.  Due to time constraints, I am not positively able to verify your exact coverage.

Q: My partner isn't sure they want couples therapy, can I just meet with you first?
A: Yes, I commonly work with people for individual counseling regarding their relationship.  This can be beneficial before entering couples work.  However, if I am your individual therapist, I will refer you to someone new for relationship counseling.

Q: I have some things that I want to talk about with you before I do couples therapy, can I meet with you first?
A: No, there is only 1 individual session that I conduct with you if you are receiving couples therapy from me.  If you think you might want to hire me as your couples counselor, you will both need to come to the session together.  Please see the couples therapy page for more information.
Q: Do you work with all couples?
A: I have some limitations to the services I can provide.  Please see the couples therapy page for more information.
